Child Care Center Director

Full-Time | Early Childhood Education Leadership

Hansel & Gretel Early Learning Center at 2206 Walnut Street, Harrisburg, PA is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and motivated Child Care Center Director to lead our well-established early childhood education/child care program. Position Overview

The Center Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operation of the child care program, including Infant, Toddler, Preschool, Pre-K Counts. Kindergarten and School Age classrooms. The Director ensures compliance with state regulations and funding requirements while fostering a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of teaching and administrative staff
  • Ensure compliance with state licensing, Keystone STARS, and all applicable regulations
  • Oversee and support Pre-K Counts programming, including curriculum fidelity, assessments, and reporting requirements
  • Administer Infant-Toddler Contracted Slots, ensuring eligibility, documentation, and compliance with program guidelines
  • Serve as the primary liaison with ELRC, school districts, and other funding or community partners
  • Oversee CACFP participation, including meal compliance, documentation, and staff accountability
  • Support developmentally appropriate curriculum implementation and quality teaching practices
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with families and promote open communication
  • Manage enrollment, staffing, scheduling, onboarding, and professional development
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional workplace culture

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education required
  • Director Credential (or ability to obtain within required timeframe)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in early childhood education, with leadership or supervisory experience
  • Working knowledge of Pre-K Counts, Keystone STARS, ELRC processes, Infant-Toddler Contracted Slots, and CACFP requirements
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple funding streams and compliance requirements
  • Commitment to quality improvement, staff support, and family engagement
